Badwater-Durango

Peter Pop won the 804 mile race in 66 hours 16 minutes (12.1 mph). The race was held August 24 - 27, 2000. The riders endured typical summer desert weather. Temperatures ranged from 50 to 115 degrees F. Riders struggled with very strong head and cross winds and suffered through severe thunderstorms.

Four riders started the race. Greg Kilcoyne was the only other finisher in 87 hours 46 minutes

The course started in Badwater, in Death Valley, the lowest spot in the US. The course crossed southern Nevada, climbed to St. George, UT, went through Page, AZ, Mexican Hat, UT, through Monument Valley, by the Four Corners, through Cortez, CO and finished in Durango, CO.
