Welcome to the home of the UltraMarathon Cycling Association (UMCA), founded in 1980 by John Marino, Michael Shermer, and Lon Haldeman. The UMCA is the leading international organization dedicated to ultracycling. We offer a calendar of ultracycling events where riders can earn points toward placement in the UltraCycling Cup and the World Cup of UltraCycling, and mileage toward the UMCA 12- and 24-hour challenges.
The UMCA offers the Year-Rounder Mileage Challenge, which is a year-long bicycle mileage challenge that recognizes consistent performance in ultracycling throughout the season. Participants may earn mileage by riding in centuries, double centuries, 12-hour races, 24-hour races, UltraCycling Cup events, and other ultra rides.
The organization also sanctions UltraCycling Records, including national, state, timed and distance records. The UMCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and welcomes donations and sponsorships to help fund our charitable programs.
The UMCA publishes UltraCycling, our quarterly publication with expert advice on cycling, training, equipment, nutrition, race strategy, and mental preparation. UltraCycling is included with your membership. Read some of our selected ISSUES.
Reprints of articles on training, nutrition and equipment are now available under articles. (If you're looking for older articles they are available in our website archives.)
