Final 2007 Indoor Challenge News
This was the season of the super ultra marathon indoor sessions!
The season began with Jimmy Malthaner taking the early lead. It looked like there would be no challengers.
|
| Jurczynski 45 hours into his spinning session!
|
That was until John Jurczynski turned in a single 50 hour session worth 236 points! The session was a low key fundraiser for a local
Children's Santa Fund. John was preparing for RAAM and was turning 50 in 2007. He was also working toward raising
$50,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
This must have inspired Caneman to get back into the challenge. He put the pressure on Jimmy Malthaner closing in on the
sessions.
This was the season of the super ultra sessions as Arvid Loewen turned in a 23 hour session and a 36 hour session!
Caneman turned in a total of eight 20 hour sessions! But John Jurczynski took on the Guiness World Record for indoor cycling
and broke it, unofficially, though with an unbelieveable 87 hour session! John mentioned that he actually gained weight because
of all the food that friends brought him! That single session was worth 421 points!
You would think that with those super ultra sessions along with 26 other sessions, that John would have taken first place in the
challenge! He ended up taking fourth place with 724 points total!
Arvid Loewen took third place turning in a 23 and 36 hour session along with 61 other sessions for a total of 770 points!
A 36 hour session is a huge accomplishment and should not be overshadowed by the 50 and 87 hour sessions!
36 hours is worth 166 points.
Jimmy Malthaner turned in 81 sessions including several ultra sessions; two 10 hour, an 11 hour, 12 hour, 13 hour, 15 hour, and two
16 hour sessions for an impressive total of 1283 points. Jimmy is the fifth rider to break the 1,000 point mark since the
challenge beginning.
Caneman broke the all time indoor challenge record again this year with 2658 points. He rode a total of 123 session, 805 hours total.
Caneman rode 29 8 hour sessions, 19 13 hour sessions, and eight 20 hour sessions! Where do you find that kind of time?
There were 45 total riders in the challenge this year.   22 rider turned in session of 6 hours or more.
